School Programs
BC Agriculture in the Classroom
By bringing local agriculture to BC's students, together with farmers, teachers, and agriculture specialists, students are taught about the story of our food in British Columbia through programs such as the Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Program.
Every month, students receive a BC grown fruit or vegetable snack to enjoy during class time. The objectives of the program are to increase the:
• consumption of local fruits and vegetables
• awareness of the health benefits of fruits and vegetables
• awareness of fruits and vegetables grown in BC
• awareness of the safe handling practices of fresh fruits and vegetables
Students also enjoy milk monthly, alongside the Fruit and Veggie Nutrition program.
