Human and Social Development

Well Being and Connection

We recognize that personal and human social skills are essential to student success. These skills empower students to thrive as individuals, develop self‑awareness and empathy, and discover and pursue their purpose in the world. Our school community is committed to ensuring every student feels welcome, safe, and connected. This commitment is reflected in our most recent Student Learning Survey, in which 82% of students reported feeling welcomed at school.

We foster belonging and school spirit through community‑building activities such as Spirit Days, like Jersey Day and Wacky Hair Day, as well as a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including basketball, soccer, track and field, and skittle ball. We have had many fundraising events for our playground fund such as a pie toss, school dances and a bottle drive. In addition, student leadership and positive character are further celebrated through our Royal Winners Draw each week, which recognizes students who consistently demonstrate Empathy, Respect, Integrity, Honesty, and Excellence.

Partnerships with organizations such as the Abbotsford Community School Society further strengthen our support for students and families. Together, these experiences promote wellbeing, engagement, and lifelong learning beyond the classroom.

Our Royals wait eagerly to take the floor for after‑school league Skittle Ball, where they compete against other schools in a fun and fast‑paced environment. Student engagement is exceptionally high, as Skittle Ball combines elements of traditional handball with the added challenge of knocking down pins (skittles). This unique sport promotes teamwork, strategy, physical activity, and school pride, while providing students with meaningful opportunities to connect and thrive beyond the classroom.
