Literacy & Numeracy Goals

At Prince Charles Elementary, literacy remains a central focus of our school goals. In this image, Mrs. Macdonald is seen leading a small group literacy session with her Grade 1 students, an approach that exemplifies effective, targeted instruction. Small group settings allow educators to tailor lessons to the specific needs of each learner, fostering deeper engagement and providing immediate feedback. This personalized support helps build foundational reading skills, encourages confidence, and promotes a love of literacy from an early age. By creating a nurturing and focused environment, Mrs. Macdonald ensures that each student receives the attention they need to thrive academically.

Small Group Instruction
Math

Here at Prince Charles Elementary, we implement daily number talks across all grade levels to strengthen fact fluency and enhance mental math strategies. Each math lesson will begin with a brief, focused number talk to promote reasoning and fluency. Hands-on activities and manipulatives will be integrated throughout K–5 to support number sense and deepen conceptual understanding through consistent, collaborative practice.
